Education/Background:
Ms. Buford received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management, summa cum laude in 1978 from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Following graduation, Ms. Buford became credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator. She was commissioned to serve in the U.S. Public Health Service as Lieutenant Junior Grade, stationed at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she served as Assistant Director of Medical Records from 1978 to 1980. She later attended Tulane Law School where she served as Justice on the Moot Court Board. In her first year of law school, Ms. Buford won the Moot Court Brief Writing Competition based on her first year brief. She was awarded the Patrick D. DeRouen Award as “Outstanding Senior Writer” in 1991. She also served as a member of the Senior Appellate Intraschool Competitions Committee, and was chosen as brief writer for the Georgetown 1990 Bioethics Competition.

Ms. Buford has focused her practice on medicine and healthcare, including representation of healthcare providers in medical malpractice litigation, transactional and regulatory matters. She is licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana, and all Louisiana State courts.
